Four countries – four flavors

VILLIGER continues CORRIDA’s history of success

VILLIGER unleashes the bulls once again by launching a limited CORRIDA Sampler this year. Four cigars in the sizeable Toro+ format ready to make their big debut.

Since its launch in 2017, CORRIDA has emerged as a multi-faceted cigar brand. It started as a pair of bulls in yellow and red (the Dominican Republic and Honduras), then two more bulls entered the arena in 2018: The green and blue series (Brazil and Nicaragua) rounded off the quartet of countries, and the family was complete. Each of the four countries in this sampler offers a comprehensive insight into the CORRIDA series. Whether you’re a beginner, an explorer, or a seasoned aficionado, this series is bound to have a cigar for every palate.

As a starter, in terms of strength, we recommend the Dominican bull. Balanced and fragrant, delicate roast aromas showcase its flavor. Tobaccos from the Dominican Republic are frequently used in mild cigars because they deliver an easy-going and smooth cigar experience. Matías Maragoto (ABAM) has been a trusted partner of VILLIGER and producer of their cigars from the Dominican Republic for years. His factory produces Bock, VILLIGER 1492, VILLIGER 1888, Dominico, and many other brands.

The green bull follows hot on the heels of the yellow bull, delivering a surprisingly aromatic and smooth smoking experience. Brazil is very popular among aficionados and should not be missing in any well-stocked humidor. Brazilian tobacco farmers harvest the entire plant, not just the leaf. That allows the leaves to draw more flavor-enhancing nutrients from the stalk during the drying process. The result: Subsequent fermentation gives Brazilian tobacco its typical sweet and distinctive aroma.

The red bull from Honduras is the complete opposite. This cigar is lushly full-flavored with typical earthy tones for a full-bodied smoke unlike any you’ve tasted before. Christopher Columbus documented tobacco cultivation in Honduras as early as 1502 during his third voyage. However, the first tobacco plants for the European market were only cultivated here in the late 1970s.

Robust with a distinct peppery scent, the blue bull oozes power. You could certainly pair this cigar with a coffee. However, if you really want to spoil your palate, we recommend a strong espresso. The beautiful dark wrapper and the delicate veins are characteristic of the outstanding quality of Nicaraguan tobacco.

All the series not included in the sampler are also available in Robusto+ (ring gauge 52) and Toro+ (ring gauge 56) at your local retailer.
