In 1858, German-born Gustav Bock emigrated to Cuba and went on to make history with his invention of the cigar band. Since then, various myths have emerged concerning the purpose for which he invented the cigar band.
Were the color-printed bands part of an ingenious marketing strategy to curb the black market, or was it about protecting the high society’s white gloves? Presumably, this question will never be fully answered. However, being new and unique, the band made a lasting impact.
In 1999, after a lengthy hiatus, the brand Bock y Ca. brand returned to the big stage. Heinrich Villiger and Matías Maragoto (ABAM S.A.) revitalized the brand. Initially based in Cuba, it was relocated to the Dominican Republic, where it still is today.
Today, 25 years later, the Bock y Ca. brand is celebrating its birthday.
The story of Gustav Bock Müller was revisited and reinterpreted for this day only. The eagle and the Cuban origin represent the superlative and unmistakable symbol for this man, the cigars, and his brand. The number 25 is added as a further supporting pillar, thus forming the foundation for a limited new edition that is second to none.

The strictly limited anniversary edition has it all. In Germany and Switzerland, only 250 boxes will be sold. Each box contains 25 cigars in the Toro Gordo format (144 x 54). The red anniversary cigar band is adorned with the golden eagle (El Aguila de Oro), prominently displayed on the company logo since 1865.
The boxes are wrapped in the old Cuban tradition, and the cigars rest in these without cellophane. A parchment and cedar wood insert protects them. Both impressively set the mood for the journey through the history of the Bock. The bouquet released after a box is opened is spicy and aromatic.
